In collaboration with Downtown Knoxville, we created a mural for the Gay Street-Jackson Avenue Stairwell, the main pedestrian entry into the Old City during the viaduct renovation. We aimed to bring vibrancy to what was an uninviting and forgotten stairwell. The illustrations set off in bright colors combine centuries of Knoxville’s history, people, and culture, creating a visual celebration of the city’s unique stories. The mural is also a visual scavenger hunt that can be played with a companion brochure and website.
