Peter Kern

Peter Kern Library is a speakeasy in The Oliver Hotel, located in the original Kern’s Bakery building built in 1875. The hotel established the theme of a library, with menus built into old encyclopedias. We illustrated a portrait of Peter Kern and played up the literary theme in the print materials. The menus are inspired by late 19th century book design, the food menu is a bookmark and the checks are presented in a manila library pocket. We went for an understated sophistication overall to match the vibe of the bar.
